Processing of Biomass for Fermentation

INPUT: bio material

OUTPUT: liquid output < 12 mm (0.12'')

Fermentation means the anaerobic decomposition of biogenous material by micro-organisms. Several groups of bacteria, which cooperate closely, transform the biogenous material to biogas.

The organic residues from households, municipal enterprises, landscaping, food industry and trade are collected separately and prepared for fermentation.

I. e. we focus on the preparation of the material for fermentation. By means of our machines, the delivered material is shredded (homogenised) and separated from the fluid fraction with the help of a screw extruder. The fluid will be used for fermentation. The solid fraction can be used later for incineration or for composting.

PLANT EXAMPLE

Input material: biogenous material
Throughput: up to 10 t/h
Output grain size: fluid < 12 mm (0.12'')
Utilisation output: recycling, thermal utilisation (solid output)

PROCESS DESCRIPTION

The input material is charged into the shredder DW 3060 by wheel loader or excavator. During this step, a first pre-sorting is carried out and large contaminants such as metal and rocks can be sorted out.

After the shredding, iron parts are separated by means of an overband magnet.

The shredded material is transported to the mixer and mixed with water if necessary in order to achieve a homogeneous mass.

This mass passes through the screw extruder which is connected to the mixer. The screw extruder can be equipped with different baskets (mesh sizes) in order to achieve a defined fluid fraction. Depending on the screw extruder parameters, a defined dry substance content of the solid fraction can be produced.
